Body of youth who was swept away by river in Kohima found in Wokha district

The body of a 25-year-old Rendemo Odyuo has been retrieved today, almost 10 days after he was swept away by waters at Dzuvuru river in Kohima on June 27.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, July 6 (HBTV): The body of a 25-year-old Rendemo Odyuo has been retrieved today, almost 10 days after he was swept away by waters at Dzuvuru river in Kohima on June 27.       

The body of the youth was spotted by fishermen of Pangti village at the Tzuza Eryu area near Phodong resort in Wokha district. Assistant Manager of Wokha District Disaster Management Agency L Jonjibemo Odyuo said that the body belonged to Rendemo Odyuo. He told this channel that there was no other drowning case reported from the area and that the level of decomposition of the body was high.       

The Wokha DDMA official said search operations began on June 29. However, because there was no trace of the victim, the personnel had called off the search after five days of intense operation. Nonetheless, they had asked the nearby villagers to inform in case they came across any bodies.      

The official informed that the police was undertaking all necessary formalities, after which the body would be handed over to the family of the deceased.
